BBC News Online story 20th April 2000 Hitler ordered 'Great Escape' massacre
based on a then newly released interrogation report of Ogruf Gottlieb BERGER: a senior SS officer, Himmler's representative in Southern Germany. Contains a verbatim account of the shooting of 50 escapees from Stalag Luft III SAGAN, March,1944. Berger had direct orders from Hitler in 1945. Ref KV 2/172
