Foot & Langley in MI 9 Escape and
Evasion state: 'Camp histories of many POW camps in Germany,
compiled in the late Summer of 1945 by SBOs and camp IOs - some
of them still in a bad temper - fill WO208/3269-95.
(No such reports have been found for camps in Italy.) Technically
these are all secondary sources, compiled after the events they
describe, but written soon afterwards by senior participants who
had a proper grasp of their subject matter, and temper apart,
wrote with a fairly balanced judgement.'
